Taking a bite out of the Big Apple Pt. 2

Here are a few photos I took on my trip to the big city this past weekend. I wandered into the Birdland Jazz Club after an afternoon of walking around aimlessly exploring. There was a cover of 20 dollars to get in, and reservations are highly recommended, but it is absolutely worth it. They have fantastic drinks and dishes and the layout makes it impossible to get a bad seat. Not to mention the fantastic music! After the show, I took the subway with my friends to the lower East side where we decided to get some dinner. We found Mary Ann’s Mexican restaurant, which doesn’t sound too authentic, but was fantastic! Make note that it is a cash only restaurant, and there are several locations. Just a little insight into my experience, but there are tons of different options when it comes to how to spend your time in New York.

Taking a bite out of the Big Apple Pt. 1

I’m pretty excited  to be going to New York City this weekend. I’m going in search of some good live jazz. The last time I made it to the big apple was last summer when I saw the Dizzy Gillespie All Star Band at the Blue Note jazz club. I’ve always been interested in jazz and blues, but there is something special about live music in the city. I’m sure I’ll wander into someplace cool, and I’ll be sure to have my camera on hand to share my experience with all of you. Let’s see what I can get into on a poor college student budget.
